Qualifications

Required Experience

The Setting IV Program Principal is responsible for providing leadership, management, and oversight of specialized education services for students with significant disabilities. They provide vision, leadership, and technical support to the staff and students, ensuring the effective implementation of Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position works collaboratively with the Special Services Supervisor and Director of Special Education to ensure students in the Federal Setting IV program receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) given their unique behavioral, social, and communicative needs. The Principal will foster an inclusive, supportive, and empowering environment for students, staff, and families.

Certification Requirements

Education & Training:

Minimum: Master's Degree in Special Education or Related Field
Preferred: Masters, Education Specialist or Doctorate in Special Education or Related Field
Work Experience:

Minimum: Five years in a special education teaching or related services position with progressive leadership experience
Preferred: One or more years in an administrative position
Licensure/Certification:

Minimum: MN Teaching Licensure in Special Education and MN K-12 Principal or Director of Special Education Licensure OR ability to obtain licensure

Other Requirements

Provide visionary leadership and direction for the Federal Setting IV Special Education program. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations and laws related to special education. Lead professional development initiatives focused on best practices in special education, behavior management, and inclusion. Develop and maintain positive, supportive relationships with students, families, and the community, including relevant interagency partners. Lead the implementation of behavior management systems and crisis intervention strategies in accordance with student needs.
